Lloyd's Bar & Grill

I stopped at Lloyd's Bar & Grill (Grosse Ile, Mi) for lunch today. On a scale of 1-10, IMO, Lloyd's is a definite 10! The customer service is wonder full. The owner is present and converses with his guest, and the bartenders/waitresses on the staff are extremely friendly. The atmosphere is comfortable - big screen TVs, pool table, and juke box.

As I sat quietly in front of the big screen watching the ESPN news, drinking an ice cold Killian's Irish Red beer, eating the world best cheese burger and Cajun wedges, I thought to myself, I love this little hideaway! And while locals may know it best, this Boston girl has discovered it; And of course, I will continue to venture to Lloyd's Bar & Grill whenever I am craving a great cheese burger and Cajun wedges. Hey, when I find a good thing, I stick with it!

PS: Another plus, I am a huge Stephen King fan, and Lloyd's Bar & Grill is based on the book "The Shining," by Stephen King! (no wonder why I feel right at home - LOL.) You would have to see the picture behind the bar to understand - I have posted a similar photo above. Lloyd's rocks!

Sleep Thee Gently

Ode' To Me Parent's
"A Love Once Held"

Walking the shoreline
throwing rocks into the sea
Thinking about time
Times when you were both here with me

The smell of the ocean
makes my sense of time real
As the waves are gently rolling in
I am walking alone in the sand

Childhood memories...
I look to the stars in the sky
I remember being here
Seagulls and brilliant blue summer skies

The stars above me twinkle and smile
As the tears in my eyes are beginning to swell
I am walking along the Revere Beach shoreline
Lost in memories of a love once held

Bookplates

My personal choice in bookplates, "Footprints" - Author Unknown. (My mother used the same bookplate).

I spent my day cataloging my home library (I have begun to list the books which I have in my collection on the side-bar of my blog). I felt my heart fill with heartfeal joy as I glanced over the various titles of books which I have read, and will most likely read again! Then it hit me. I am missing a lot of my books. They have been lent out to various persons, and sadly, they have never returned. I will forever find myself wondering, "Where have they gone?"

Sharing my books with others who are interested in reading, mentally intoxicates me; on many moons, friends have come across titles or volumes while sciming my book shelf and asked me if they can borrow the book which has captured their attention. In fact, I often purchase books for people I am known to care about. During these times, I place the above shown bookplate in the book, and give it to the receiver with a personal greeting and date.

Because I have witnessed (and visuallyacknowledged) the decrease in my book collection, I have started to place bookplates, with my name and date, in all of my books. It is my hope that the next time a book is borrowed, the bookplate will serve as a friendly reminder that it needs to be returned to its rightful owner.

New Guinea Impatiens

While its given name suggest "impatience," I can assure you that these flowers are extremely hardy and indeed very patient!

I have had the above captioned New Guinea Impatience flower bed sunning on my balcony for a little over 2 1/2 months. And given my work various hours and hectic work schedule, I am more than impressed with the resilience of this plant!

I have been known, on occasion, to neglect my duty of watering. Yet, much to my amazement and complete satisfaction, upon receiving its due share of water, it has revived itself to full splendor.

Amazing! I highly recommend New Guinea Impatiens to all!

5,014 American Soliers Deceased, And Counting...

Here is a link to The Washington Post's recent American causualty pictures. The scariest insert can be found on the bottom of the picture page, via a widget which reads, next 100 > click here - The Washington Post.

When was the last time Americans raised their voices and declared their desire to stop the slaughter of our troops, who are continuing to be killed by unknown enemies.

I am tired of hearing about Michael Jackson, and now President Obama's recent photo video; the media is out of control, and we are the ones who are fueling their assigned stories. They are only reporting what we continue to say "we want"; our silent masses are making them think that they are covering the right stories. I don't agree!

I am tired of reading ALL of the drama filled crap that is continuously encompassing the news papers, and television stations today. We need to refocus our attention to All of the core values of our country, and report ALL of the things which keep our democracy united and strong.

When are we going to raise our voices up and demand that the media and press stop their never ending coverage of garbage? This is snowballing into a nightmare.

1. What are we doing about the homeless in American?
2. What are we doing to strenghen our education system?
3. What are we doing about the unemployment rate?
4. What are we doing to help Americans who have lost their homes to foreclosures?
5. What are we doing to promote equality?
6. What are we doing about the foster care systems deficences?

The list of things which need our complete attention is growing. America is a nation in a state of total vunerability. We have stopped seeking higher education and settled for self - centered growth. We are almost a socialist country. And this scares the hell out of me!

What is really important are the lives of the men and women who are on the front lines defending America, and ensuring the liberty and freedom of all of her citizens.

We need a wake up call America. Our heads are in the clouds!

Blah Blah Blah

Amz's...I miss you. ~ Pinky

I am beginning to feel the isolation. I miss my little women. I miss the never ending things which need my attention (not that I haven't been keeping myself complete engulfed in different projects). I miss cuddle time; the girl's and I are cuddle bugs - we cuddle up on the couch or on the living room floor, covered in blankets during our "special" family movie nights. (I have to be very mindful {extra mindful} and alert on these evenings, and ensure that I divide my time with each daughter equally so that each of the girl's receives their equal fare share of "quality time" with there mom.

I miss my best friend; our endless hugs, laughter, rants, and tears. While cleaning my apartment this morning I found an empty half pint of vodka shoved in between my couch cushions. It must have been from her last "horra," the night before I drove her to a long term, in house, treatment facility...

*sigh*

I experienced a huge wave of various emotions upon discovering the empty plasic bottle -sadness overwhelmed my soul. I haven't seen or heard for my best friend in over a month now, and I am wondering how her days are going, and if she is doing well. I am praying that she is being healed and helped; that she will be able to restore and rediscover her sense of self- find out who see is when she is sober.

Alcholism is a horrible disease. *looks at her claudaugh ring - tears* I know. far too well, the wickedness of its controlling ways. I am going to pray about many things which are one my heart and mind tonight. The weight is to much to carry alone. I must seek HIM.

Hello God, it's me, Bawstongirl. I have lots of things I want to talk to you about tonight. Can you hear me...? Of course you can; you've been waiting patiently for my return...

Bonus Card Shopping

I went to Kroger tonight after work; its a grocery store chain here in MI. I walked into the store, grabbed a shopping cart, (the wheels didn't wobble - hell yeah - a good start) a weekly sale add, and set off to feed myself on a budget.

Note: I am accustomed to grocery shopping on a budget - my two daughter's can, and, will eat; they are "tweens" now so they require more food than I am accustomed to having to purchase. I decided to pay close attention to the items I selected and anxiously waited to see what kind of deals I could find; a few items will surfice. The girl's are currently with their dad for the summer, and while I don't need to, I challenge myself to stay focused while they are with their dad, and begin my search for sale items.

Here is a complete list of all of the items I purchased:

3 boxes of Mac & Cheese

1 1lb box of elbow macaroni

2 packages of kielbasa (each package has 2)

2 packages of brawts (each package has 5)

1 loaf of wheat bread

5 bananas

1 2 lb package of hamburger

I am at home now watching "Alexander The Great." I am eating some mac & cheese, fried kielbasa, and corn. I am sipping an ice cold Labatt Blue, and feeling very content and proud of shopping adventure:

My grand total: $15.01

*Raises her frosty beer mug* "cheers!"

G'night, my dearest darlings! I love you all.
